Parks Forum
The Parks Forum website provides a comprehensive resource database with a wide range of resources and publications to support parks management. Some publications are available to the general public, and some to members only. The website also provides a calendar/ listing of events, projects and programs.
Public Health Advisory Committee
This Committee was established to provide independent advice to the Minister of Health on public health issues, including: factors influencing the health of people and communities; and the promotion and monitoring of public health.

Healthy Places Healthy Lives: Urban Environments and Wellbeing (Public Health Advisory Committee, April 2010)
The 'Healthy Places, Healthy Lives' report to the Minister of Health provides an evidence-based review of how the urban environment influences the health of communities. In NZ and worldwide, there has emerged a range of health problems that are linked with how we live in our towns and cities today. There is a growing body of research highlighting that it is possible to design cities and towns for positive health outcomes. This report outlines this evidence and describes a number of case studies that illustrate ways to design cities, towns, neighbourhoods and streets to promote good health.
Community green: Using local spaces to tackle inequality and improve health (CABE, July 2010)
This document investigates the relationship between urban green space, inequality, ethnicity, health and wellbeing in the largest study of its kind in England. It examines the impact of the quality of local green spaces on the health and wellbeing of people in six deprived and ethnically diverse areas. It shows that providing good quality local green space is an effective way to tackle inequality and improve health.
Urban green nation: Building the evidence base (CABE, March 2010)
Urban green nation is a CABE space research project which compiles and analyses data at a national level to fill the 'green' information gap. The document will be of interest to policymakers and decision makers in central and local government and anyone interested in understanding more about England's urban green spaces. The report shows the strong link between satisfaction with local parks and open space and satisfaction with neighbourhood. |
